Maritime Sustainability: The Yacht Club de Monaco’s SEA Index® has expanded its CO₂ certification beyond superyachts to cover recreational boats from 10 metres, including production vessels and catamarans up to 35 metres, with new benchmark models developed with Lloyd’s Register for displacement, semi-displacement and planing monohulls. Local Industry Link: The SEA Index network includes marinas in the Mediterranean, the Seychelles and Saint-Barthélemy, meaning more local operators can use a consistent emissions assessment as buyers, ports, marinas, banks and insurers seek comparable environmental criteria. Scale of Uptake: More than 130 yachts over 24 metres have already been certified, and the updated methodology is designed to compare boats against design- and use-specific benchmarks rather than a one-size-fits-all standard.
